Contribution to Learning
As I reflect on my journey through EDLD 5313 - Creating Significant Learning Environments and EDLD 5389 - Developing Effective Professional Leadership, it has shown me the impact these courses have had on my growth as a facilitator within my organization. Through active participation, engagement with course materials, and continuous collaboration with my group, I have strengthened my ability to create meaningful learning experiences and develop leadership strategies. The assignments in these two courses have helped me build a foundation for sustainable educational change.

What is Working

One of the most important aspects of these courses has been my ability to combine theoretical concepts with practical applications. In EDLD 5313, my work on New Culture of Learning allowed me to explore how dynamic and adaptable learning environments allow creativity and collaboration among learners. The Learning Philosophy also helped me shape my educational beliefs, made sure that my approach to instructional-coaching is learner-centered and ingrained in meaningful engagement. In EDLD 5389, the Alternate PL - A Call to Action showed me how to analyze existing professional learning models and recommend innovative solutions for effective development opportunities. These assignments helped me translate theory into practice, making my learning more relevant and impactful.

Collaboration played a big role in my learning through these courses. Both courses, I actively engaged with my GroupMe group (Julia, Lydia, Shaqueta, and Jana), in which we exchanged feedback and talked in depth on key concepts. In EDLD 5313, discussing the assignment Aligning Outcomes, Assessment, and Activities with my group has helped me shape my strategies and ensure alignment between learning objectives and assessments. In EDLD 5389, discussing with my group on Planning the Alternative PL assignment allowed us to develop an approach to improving professional learning opportunities in our respective institutions. These discussions with my group and peers helped me understand more of the course materials and enabled me to support my peers' learning experience.

Areas of Improvement

While both courses have been significant in my progress, there are areas where I can improve my contributions and learning strategies. One of my biggest challenges I always encountered was time management, especially juggling assignments, work, and family responsibilities. Even though I met all deadlines with my assignments, I thought to myself that I could of engaged more in discussions by putting more time for reflection and critical thinking. In EDLD 5313, Understanding by Design assignment, I felt that I could have shaped my plan by bringing in more peer feedback and revising my work. In 5389, while my Planning the Alternative PL assignment was comprehensive, I could have explored extra case studies to deepen my argument for different professional learning models.

One thing I want to improve is my ability to integrate more scholarly research into my assignments and discussions with peers. While I have cited sources using APA format, I could have dove deeper by finding case studies that could further my arguments and provide more information for my work. As I progress in this degree, I plan on seeking out additional perspectives to enhance the depth of my work.

Contributions to Learning Community

I have actively participated in discussions, provided feedback to my group and peers, and shared resources to support collaborative learning. In EDLD 5313, my engagement in discussions such as Developing a Growth Mindset helped create meaningful conversations about the role of perseverance and adaptability in learning environments. In EDLD 5389, I began to take on a leadership role within my group in discussing A Call to Action, guiding discussions on innovative approaches to professional development.

In the weekly discussions, I often initiated on key concepts and provided feedback to my group and peers. I also revised my assignments based on instructor and peer feedback, which showed my commitment to continuous improvement. These courses have shown me the importance of peer learning, and I'm grateful for the feedback and support of my GroupMe members (Julia, Lydia, Shaqueta, and Jana) who have been with me since the beginning of this journey.

Justification of Score

Based on my contributions, engagement, and commitment to both EDLD 5313 and EDLD 5389, I believe a self-assessment score in the range of 90-100. I've consistently met course expectations, submitted my work on time, actively participated in weekly discussions, and showed a commitment to improving my work through revisions and group collaboration. The assignments in both courses helped me connect theory with practice and allowed me to contribute to the learning community. While there are areas for improvement, my overall performance reflects dedication to learning and professional growth. These courses have provided a solid foundation for my growth and I am eager to apply these learnings to my professional practice.
