As 5303 comes to an end, I found myself reflecting on the learning and growth that has taken place and will continue to evolve during my journey in this degree. The most challenging part was choosing a platform to create my E-portfolio. Experimenting with different platforms such as WordPress, Canva, and WIX, I’ve come to find that WIX was most user friendly to me. The countless hours spent watching YouTube tutorials and experimenting with my portfolio, has made me think outside the box and how I want to approach an audience. This course has provided me with the tools to create an E-portfolio and share my passion in innovating technology.
COVA (Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authenticity) has been the center point of what I’m trying to portray in innovating technology in my workplace. Having ownership of my learning has helped me in creating a portfolio that allowed me start thinking critically and creatively. It has allowed me to have freedom in how I showcased my work which made me connect with my work on a deeper level. Our class meetings, weekly readings and videos and group discussions has allowed me to take each opportunity to challenge my way of thinking, how to be more creative, and grow from my accomplishments and setbacks.
Another aspect of this course was the Growth Mindset and Peer Review Process. Collaborating with my group has allowed me to acquire a growth mindset in which I can improve on myself and to receive feedback. Receiving feedback has been a challenge with me since I am my worst judge when it comes to showcasing my work. As I learned from my group and other peers, we are all on the same path to create portfolios that showcase our personalities and voice our concerns in innovating technology. Receiving feedback from others on ways I could improve my portfolio was not about correcting my errors but about growth. This tool has helped me in creating a meaningful portfolio and encouraged deeper learning. This experience has taught me to both offer and accept feedback with an open mind, which I will continue to develop as a digital leader.
Starting from a blank document on WIX to what I have created so far has given me a sense of accomplishment. It has allowed me to grow my knowledge on web design as well as my growth mindset. This is only the beginning, and it will be a continuous process which I plan on using after I finish this degree. As I reflect back on what I have learned so far, I’m grateful to what this course has offered and look forward in applying my learning to future courses in this degree.
I want to thank Dr. Johnson for making this class insightful and engaging. Every class session we had with her, I could see the passion that drives her in what she does and it reflected on our learning as we began to create our E-Portfolios. The numerous e-mails that I sent her to get guidance, she never failed to respond in a timely matter. I cannot wait to see how the rest of this journey unfolds.
